Moving Toward Opportunity

The Moving Towards Opportunity (MTO) Program is a youth employment initiative for 16-18 year-olds residing in Regent Park and surrounding neighbourhoods. A joint effort between Dixon Hall, The Daniels Corporation, Pathways to Education, The City of Toronto and TCHC, MTO is a collective impact initiative that seeks to inspire youth to broaden their perceptions about their future career opportunities, equip youth with the employment skills necessary to successfully enter today’s labour market, and build their social capital and professional network.

MTO provides program participants with a comprehensive 14-week employment readiness program, followed by an 8-week, full-time, paid work opportunity during their summer break. By connecting youth to influential employers in the institutional and corporate sector, MTO contributes to local economic development and aims to generate confident and capable young leaders ready to contribute innovative ideas to their community and beyond.

As partners in the Regent Park revitalization, Daniels and TCHC participate in a local employment initiative that emphasize the creation of career path opportunities in the construction trades for local youth.
